Distaff Day:

A distaff is the wooden rod (staff) used to hold the flax or wool on a spinning wheel. Distaff came to be used to describe both women’s work and the female section (distaff side) of the family. In the Middle Ages, the spinning distaff, or roc, was a representation of women’s labour. After the twelve days of Christmas, several European cultural customs dictate that women return to their domestic duties. During this festival, the men and ladies frequently played practical jokes on one another, as Robert Herrick describes in his poem, which is included in his Hesperide. Herrick’s poem was turned into a song in the 20th century.

Harlem Globetrotter’s Day:

A basketball exhibition team from the United States is called the Harlem Globetrotters. In 1927, the Harlem Globetrotters competed in their inaugural match. Although they didn’t play a game in Harlem until 1968, they were formerly known as The Chicago Globetrotters before their name was officially changed in 1929. They chose the name since the location at the time had a significant connection to African American culture. A unique day has been added to the timeline as a result of their success and notoriety as players. As a means to recognise that athlete and their abilities, celebrate the day in a special way.

 I Am a Mentor Day: 

Since the dawn of civilization, mentors have coexisted in our culture. Our parents, instructors, friends, or other people with whom we feel at ease have all served as examples of them. Our level of comfort with them allows us to confide in them about our troubles and count on their advice. The idea of mentoring has become more popular recently. There are now people who specialise in mentoring young people and guiding them into fulfilling vocations and lifestyles. In times of gloom or pessimism, a mentor is intended to be the helping hand. Finding such mentors was a challenge, so those who did were undoubtedly fortunate.

I Am Not Going To Take It Anymore Day:

Nobody among us would be able to control their anger or other strong emotions in the face of an injustice without the essential tolerance and patience. In order to show the rest of the world that there is still life and hope for everyone, it would be natural for everyone to want to fight back against that evil. Do not tolerate unfair treatment from anyone in your life if you would prefer to be treated in a different manner. Decide to start thinking differently starting today. You should use this occasion to vent your resentment and relieve the stress you have been experiencing.

 Mahayana New Year:

 Buddhist doctrines and practices are also referred to as Mahayana. Theravada is a major branch of Buddhism. In places like Tibet, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, China, and Mongolia, Mahayana Buddhism is more widely practised than in other parts of Northeast Asia.

Buddhists who follow the Mahayana school hold the view that enlightenment can be attained in one’s lifetime or in the present. It is possible for regular Buddhists to attain this enlightenment; it is not just for monks. Being enlightened and assisting others in achieving nirvana are the ultimate goals for everyone. By performing good deeds and adhering to Buddha’s teachings, the religion seeks to assist individuals in becoming enlightened. 

National Bobblehead Day:

The terms wobbler, nodder, and bobblehead are all variations of the same word. It is a class of collectible toy with a frequently disproportionately large head to body ratio. Instead of a strong connection, the bobblehead’s body and head are joined together by a spring or hook. So, the name comes from the fact that a light tap will make the head bobble. For more than a century, bobbleheads have been around in a variety of sizes and shapes. Initially, ceramic was used to make these bobbleheads. All spring-connected head-bobbing figurines are recognised to have a day of celebration on this day.

National Pass Gas Day:

Gasping is undoubtedly a normal phenomenon. Usually, the gas is composed of odourless gases like oxygen, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, or nitrogen. However, occasionally, depending on the type of food consumed, the gas contains hydrogen sulphide. . It is a common occurrence and the body’s method of releasing waste gases that have accumulated in the stomach as a result of digestion. It’s a day set aside to laugh at our bizarre bodies, raise awareness of the value of passing gas, and discuss foods like eggs, beans, cabbage, and dairy items that trigger gas discharges. In order to maintain your health or if you have gas issues, this day recommends you to avoid eating foods that cause gas. 

National Tempura Day:

It’s customary to eat tempura in Japan.

Portuguese colonists in Nagasaki at the time introduced it in the 16th century. The light batter was made using the fritter-cooking method. The dish’s European origins are shown by the name “tempura.” The Latin term “Quatuor Tempora,” which refers to the times when Catholics consumed fish and vegetables rather than meat, is where the phrase’s origins lie. It is prepared using the battered and fried fried cooking method. With wheat flour and cold water, tempura batter is created. Some recipes call for additional ingredients for flavour, such as eggs, oil, baking soda, or spices. The Portuguese actually brought this cooking method to Japan a few centuries ago. 

Old Rock Day:

This Day is an informally observed holiday that promotes  celebration of, and education about all types of ancient rocks and fossils. Today is just for looking around and learning about the past. This holiday can unite people via exploration as they learn new things about what might be hiding in their backyard or even a nearby park. This holiday motivates us to go exploring with family and friends because it’s always wonderful to do so. The day is ideal for beginning a collection of rocks and learning more about them in depth. An unbroken mineral or material that resembles a mineral makes up the solid substance known as rock.

Orthodox Christmas Day:

Prior to Christmas Day, many Orthodox Christians in nations like the US observe fasts. The time spent getting ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ is often referred to as the Nativity Fast. According to some theories, fasting causes people to focus more on others than on themselves, allowing them to devote more time to prayer and helping the destitute instead of thinking about their own needs. Various customs are observed on Christmas Day in Orthodox churches. To commemorate the three wise men’s gifts to the infant Jesus, for instance, many churches burn frankincense and light a small fire of blessed palms.
