Why National Fragrance Day?
Fragrances have become an important part of our lives; just like human evolution, fragrances have been developing along the way. They help transform products into experiences. There are many reasons why national fragrance day is celebrated. Scientific reasons being the close connection between our mind and sensory organs.
Fragrances have a deep connection with our memory. For example, when we think about a person, we think about their face, smile, and gestures, but most importantly, we think about how they smelt. This gives us proof of how deeply our mind is connected to the sense of smell. We associate summer with the smell of fresh grass and thunderstorms and rains with damp air. We think of these fragrances because they are associated with certain instances. The Hippocampus in our brain, which is responsible for retaining memories, is beside the olfactory bub, which is another proof that fragrances are related to memories.
Apart from that, a continuous chain of evolution of fragrance represents the love and preference of wearing that fragrance. The long tale of fragrance development was started by a chemist named Taputi. His name was mentioned on a stone tablet in the 2nd millennium BCE in Mesopotamia. Archaeologists have found traces of an old perfumery that was situated on the Cyprus island. This perfumery had traces of an area of almost 4000sq.m. This gives proof that it was produced on an industrial scale. Earlier, many natural spices and herbs were used as fragrant substances. Liquid myrrah, fragrant cinnamon, fragrant cane, and cassia.
Since then, the fragrances have been developing continuously with every new element that is discovered. France holds possession of the best fragrances in the world. The availability of resources and their undying love for sweet fragrances have made French perfume one of the world’s leading industries. Now people celebrate national fragrance day to rejoice over all the fragrances.
