The term “Jukebox” may have originated from locations that were called ‘Juke Joints’ or Juke Houses’. During the early 1900s, people met in these locations for drinks and music.
The first coin-operated player was invented by the Managers of the Pacific Phonograph Co., Louis Glass and William S. Arnold in 1889. From then on, Jukebox has undergone a massive transformation with time. From being played on vinyl Records to being able to play both sides of the record the Jukebox has captured the audience’s heart for celebrations!
With the latest technology, Jukebox is handier than ever with the touch screen and can be controlled with a mobile application too. users can now select from a vast range of songs from the virtual library along with the top artists.
Through the past years, the Jukebox has been used for playing varied tunes from everything between acoustic and electric!
The 1930s was called the beginning of “The Golden Era” for Jukeboxes as many manufacturers including The Rock-Ola Manufacturing Corp., Rudolph Wurlitzer Co., Automatic Musical Instrument Co., and The J.P. Seeburg Corp. among many others competed to manufacture them for Entertainment centers, Saloons, and Diners!
The 1940s was described as “The Silver Age” as the demand rose with technological advancements. The slender and Fashionable Jukeboxes not only played music but also were used as Centrepieces for their flamboyance.
