Why National Military Spouse Appreciation Day?
We are all aware of the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers on the nation’s front, leaving their families behind for the love of their country. But, the sacrifices made by the spouses of these brave soldiers get faded in the background.
The level of patience it requires to trust and feel secure that their partner who’s in the service is safe can only be observed in spouses from military backgrounds. This emotion is quite unparalleled. Hence, we must acknowledge the hardships and the efforts that the military spouses battle through every day.
They are the pillars of strength for both their families and society; hence this day is observed to cherish the silent efforts made by them regularly, including raising a family on their own.
Not only do they have to deal with the constant fear and anxiety for their spouses who are serving the nation bravely on the front, but they simultaneously also have to take major parenting decisions on their own.
It is probably months or even years at length that they don’t get to meet their spouses, but they still wait patiently for them, praying for their health and safety. Hence, it is our duty as a community to look after the mental health of military spouses.
Raising kids and building families is not something a majority of people can’t deal with on their own, but the military spouses do it with ease that they do not let the state of their mental health get in the way of their family’s or child’s growth.
To recognize and celebrate this day is important for the sole reason that we shall always extend our support to the families and the spouses of military servicemen and let their sacrifices and patience be heard and not let it go unnoticed.
On this day, we aim to empower and support the spouses of the service members and provide them with all the resources, making them capable of sustaining and raising their children and family in all aspects of life.
