Why National Receptionists’ Day?
The National Receptionists’ day presents us with the opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate our receptionists for the work they put in every day and how they make the office function a lot smoother.
It is often noticed that receptionists are treated harshly or with disrespect by their superiors and their regular co-workers. This can take a toll on their mental health, which may further lead to miscommunication and other disturbances in the office environment.
Receptionists are often overlooked and underappreciated mainly because they never get paid enough for the number of duties they perform and the number of responsibilities they carry out every day.
Although there should not be a need for a particular day to realize the importance of our receptionists’, this day was particularly announced to celebrate their contributions to the company. This year it was on 12th May, the second Wednesday of the month.
The receptionists are responsible for making appointments and working as a secretary for the managers, but they also carry out the additional responsibilities to represent their company to the potential clients and guests.
Many receptionists perform multiple activities and carry out different responsibilities such as screening out potential candidates applying to the company, making it a lot easier for the HRs.
If you are close to someone who is a receptionist or happen to know them in general, make sure that you listen to them and acknowledge them while they are sharing their concerns related to their work or just in general.
