Why National Third Shift Workers Day?
We all enjoy our comfort and look forward to finishing our share of the work during the daytime itself. Still, some business operations and various other services require people to put in extra hours, especially during the night.
It is a common phenomenon for people who work at night and put in all their efforts. Working during the day is one of the basic human instincts, but people who work during the night deserve extra appreciation and support.
This day recognizes the sacrifices made by the people who work during the night shifts and miss out on quality time with their friends and families, major parties and events, and the most crucial and important element- their sleep schedule.
Not only do the third shift workers lose their precious family time at night, but due to their very demanding and challenging work schedule, they also tend to miss out on important events during the day as well.
You would only understand their dilemma if you were in their shoes; hence, this day was announced in order to extend our support and gratitude towards the people who choose to work during the night shift.
The effort takes for people to put in night shifts for their work may sometimes go completely unacknowledged or unnoticed. This day is in honor and support all those men and women who work relentlessly through the night in business operations or other service sectors.
Although there should not be the need for a specific day to remind you to be kind and acknowledge the efforts of the third shift workers on this day, you can certainly celebrate the people in your life who work the night shift.
Though the night shift workers might have adapted themselves to their lifestyle and might find it very regular or mundane, under-appreciating and overlooking their efforts might lead them to feel demotivated after a certain point in time. Hence, we must take the time from our lives and make them feel acknowledged.
This day is being acknowledged since the beginning of this century and was first recognized by Jeff Corbett.
