Why World Trick Shot Day?
Trick shots are tricks that you perform using your basketball, the hoop, and loads of creativity!
The Harlem Globetrotters stormed the basketball courts with their amazing feats to entertain fans and thereby stealing hearts ever since 1926.
Since then they have performed in 124 countries and territories time and again shattering the societal and cultural backgrounds giving fans an exclusive basketball experience.
Over these years they have entertained millions of basketball fans including the Presidents, Popes, Kings, and Queens too! They now own 22 Guinness World Records and are looking forward to more.
After 94 years they still carry on the legacy for their mind-boggling trick shots. In 2016, the Harlem Globetrotters proposed the idea of allowing everyone to show their best trick shots too. This day was not only about the fun and entertaining aspect of Trick shots but also an amazing way to connect with fans. Thus the World Trick Shot Day was born.
Ever since people across the nation have been performing amazing trick shots and uploading them on social media using hashtag #WorldTrickShotDay.
Every year, few of the best Trick Shot performers are chosen by the Harlem Globetrotters and given a free ticket to the Pushing The Limits world tour.
Everyone has a unique talent and if performing trick shots is yours then this is the perfect time to show your best trick shot attempts to the world to entertain and inspire others. And If you don’t want to perform Trick Shots you can enjoy encouraging others who do!

- The team was called the Savoy Big Five when it began in 1926 and was renamed Harlem Globetrotters in 1929.
- Their origin was in Chicago and not in Harlem. The team did not play in Harlem until 1968.
- Harlem Globetrotters got their name from their Manager who was a white Jewish immigrant
- Although today they are popular for their trick shots, they did play serious basketball in their early years
- They were the first African American players to play for the NBA
- The Hollywood Walk of Fame has got a star for Harlem Globetrotters too for their off-court entertainment
- Lynette Woodard was the first woman to play for the team in 1985. So far nine women have played for the team
- The team had played 2000 games by 1940 and dominated any team they played with!3=pp-

The World Trick Shot Day was founded in November 2016 by the Harlem Globetrotters and has been observed annually on the first Tuesday in December since then! We do not know the specific reason for choosing this day. However, it is not an official national holiday. It is celebrated to be a fun holiday.
