Why Color The World Orange Day?
The CRPS/RSD is a chronic pain condition, where the individual experiences a severe, prolonged and often burning pain that is usually more intense than the actual injury.
The CRPS/RSD experiencing individual will show symptoms of variation in skin color and temperature of the affected region.
The individual will also face swelling, sweating, and skin sensitivity. This is because high levels of nerve impulses are sent to the affected area due to a dysfunction in the nervous system.
The other symptoms include decreased mobility due to stiff and swollen joints, change in hair and nail growth too.
There is no cure for CRPS/RSD. Research is still being done to find a cure. However, treatment includes Psychotherapy, Pain Relief, and Physical therapy.
The condition affects women more. Even though it might appear as a simple bruise, these individuals face lifelong pain and need medication throughout.
Many of us are not aware of this chronic condition. Thus in order to raise awareness and funds for the research and treatment, supporters are encouraged to participate in various awareness campaigns and display everything in orange color! That is why “color the world orange day” is observed every first Monday in November. Many countries’ famous buildings and landmarks participate by displaying them in orange lights around the world!
