This day is celebrated to show gratitude to our gifted sense of smell as it is one of the main reasons to realize our delicious foods and fragrances. It is the first sense which plays a crucial role for visually impaired persons to protect them from unsafe situations.
How we can Celebrate National Sense of Smell Day:
A good way to observe the national sense of smell day is through daily workouts. Yes, Studies reveal that after workouts, our brain signals get activated which in turn increase the ability to smell. So post workout, do a lite sniff on your favorite fragrances. Engaging in this activity not only enhances its development but also delays the diminishing nature of our sense of smell as we get old.
Below are the few directions to improve our sense of smell and to protect it with care.
While cleaning your rooms, avoid using chemicals with strong vapors as you may tend to inhale it. Stay away from stinky and bad smells as prolonged exposure to it may deteriorate our sense of smell. At unavoidable situations for example, if you are working in pharmaceutical industries, always wear a mask as it filters some of the hazardous fumes arising from chemicals that you are exposed to.
It has been found the smell of lemon increases concentration and promotes clear thinking. The smell of Cinnamon and peppermint decrease the likelihood of road rage stress in drivers. Clean your nose with saline spray and blow your nose at regular intervals during flu times or else it would block smellreceptors.
