Why Faux Fur Day?
If you are hearing faux fur for the first time, chances are that you must have heard them by their other names – fake fur, simulated fur, or imitated fur.
Throughout our ancient history animals have always been killed for meat and skin. With no or less technology, fur was the best protection during chilly nights and winters. Even today, we can find many natives still hunting as part of their tradition and culture.
It was reasonable back then but now hunting animals and slaughtering them for fur isn’t accepted by many especially in the animal rights group as well as the animal lovers. And the need for fur has been depleting among us with the invention of synthetic fibers and electric heating systems.
Thus the first fake fur was introduced around the 1900s and made using cellulose fiber. By the 1950s it was mass-produced for its popularity. And Since then fake fur has catered to the fur requirements of different economic levels and become an indispensable asset of the clothing as well as the fashion industry.
Fashion designers use faux fur to accent their apparel and add extra decor. Faux fur is also available in different colors and lasts longer than fur! As animal fur requires constant refrigeration to prevent it from degrading.
Faux Fur is used as an amazing alternative although it does not provide as much insulation and breathability as that of real fur. You can also see Faux Fur is used for bedding, pillows, and for studded animal toys too.
With so much to offer in terms of variety and convenience, it is no doubt that Faux fur has captured the hearts of people who love animals and fur! And thus it is fair enough to have a day dedicated to celebrating Faux fur and its history!
