Why National Maryland Day?

Maryland Day has a rich maritime tradition, which includes the War of 1812 Ocean battle at Ft. McHenry to defend Baltimore. A witness to the incident was so moved by what he saw that Francis Scott Key wrote the lyrics to what would eventually become our national anthem.

The highlight of any journey to Maryland is spending a weekend or a vacation in Ocean City with friends or family.
