Why National Military Brats Day?
Out of every twenty-five Americans, one is the child of military personnel. Owing to the fact that the United States Department of Defense was not proactive in keeping the records of the military staff in such a way that is clearly defined, it is impossible to determine the actual number of such military brats. Regardless, the children that make up for this distinct group are spread out across the fifty states of the US and yet others in other countries overseas. In as much as the military brats pursue separate professions, they maintain the same culture. Even in their diversity spreading across different states and countries, the military brats have managed to maintain communication, and take advantage of social media platforms.
The military brats do not have a habit of staying all in one place for a long time, a culture that they most likely picked from their military parents before them. Most of these military brats, having descended from military homes and settings, are not permitted to return home, lest they commit to sign up for the military service when they grow up. Leveraging internet platforms like Military Brats Registry, Operation Foot Locker, and the American Overseas Schools Historical Societies among others, the children of military personnel reconnect with their childhood friends and have made the time and effort to catch up through stories and other meaningful engagements.
