Why National Grammar Day?
Communication in any language becomes more meaningful with Grammar. If you hate seeing and listening to improper grammar usage or just being a humble fan of grammar, the National Grammar Day couldn’t get any better!
We see grammatical mistakes happening with us and all around us all the time! History has proved that even professionals with years of experience seldom are spared from this tragedy. On the bright side, errors remind us of our imperfect state and humble us!
While many of us are sulking about people not using grammar, one Martha Brockenbrough, realized that her students needed to take learning grammar in the positive stride and thus founded the National Grammar Day in 2008! What’s more fun than learning Grammar in a lively way?!
The National Grammar Day is celebrated on March 4th as an imperative to march forth towards becoming better grammar users and helping others in the process as well!
Grammar enables you to celebrate and enjoy any language deeply! It drives meaningful communication, respect for fellow individuals, and mastery of a language. It is unwise to be communicating without knowing the meaning of words.
Many find it difficult to get jobs or choose passionate careers because of bad grammar while many others struggle with a lack of confidence due to this!
Grammar is vital in all our communication. Excluding or including any grammatical elements can be disastrous as they could completely change the meaning of your sentence. We enjoy the constitution, understand great movies, novels, and plenty of valuable books, audios, and videos from across the world as it all hinges on good grammar!
Imagine the catastrophe it would create if our communication has grammatical errors. Sometimes it can be ignored but it could put lives at stake in case of important communications as in court appeals, government laws, military orders, flight announcements, client relationships, or international trade!
Any communication small or big hinges on good grammar as it is the essence of any language and thus communication itself! So irrespective of where you work grammatical errors are something we need to constantly keep a check on.
The Grammar Day is not only for highlighting grammatical errors but also a day for reflecting upon your grammar, brush up your grammar and also help others with grammar! So Grammar Day is a celebration for professionals and amateurs alike!
Either way, this day humbles us knowing we are bound to err as humans and helps us to watch ourselves by not being blinded by pride.
So next time you find a mistake, or are scared to pursue your speaking, writing, or reading goals, remember you can never achieve mastery without your mistakes!
So this Grammar Day is a reminder about all the bad grammar that we have been using and encourages us to work on it! Whichever language you speak or would love to learn, let’s ensure that all the good nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs deserve a day where they are finally used right!
Let no more commas and apostrophes be forgotten or lost and let no proper nouns be found in lower case! Let no language be treated poorly or abused with our improper grammar.
