Among those devastated were two brothers named Leo and Herbert Horelick, who owned a small grocery business in Chicago at 7- Eleven Avenue.
These brothers decided to pool their money and take out an ad in Chicago newspapers offering courage and hope through this trying time.
These two brothers further started a company, and then was created by the company, the largest chain of convenience stores in the US. It falls on July 11, since that’s the day in 1927 when the first shop was opened. The store offered a drink mix for only seven cents and eleven cents of opening time.
